G-1000 Heavy Duty
G-1000 is Fjallraven's main material, created in 1968. It consists of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. It is hard-wearing and durable, and protects against wind and UV radiation. The G-1000 is tough, but the G-1000 Heavy Duty is even tougher.
Tough, water-resistant, and impregnated with Greenland wax on both sides, it takes durability to a new level. Fjallraven's G-1000 Heavy Duty is less ventilated than G-1000, so we use it for products that prioritize durability over breathability, such as many of our bags and backpacks.
Kanken
Kanken is Fjallraven's iconic backpack, created in 1978 in collaboration with members of the Swedish Association of Guides and Scouts to address the problem of scoliosis in Swedish schoolchildren.
Since then, the Kanken backpack has won the hearts of millions of children and adults around the world for its practicality and versatility, and is rightfully considered one of the world's most popular urban backpacks.
Since the inception of the laconic design of the classic Kanken, we have expanded the color palette, which now includes more than 50 colors, and the model range, creating the Kanken Laptop, Kanken Mini, and Kanken Kids, as well as several models of bags - Kanken Totepack, Kanken Sling, and Kanken Hip Pack. In the pursuit of rational use of natural resources, Re-Kanken made of recycled polyester, and Kanken Re-Wool made of recycled wool were born.
