Eco-Shell Everyday
Fjallraven's Eco-Shell is a lightweight, waterproof, breathable material made from recycled polyester with a water-repellent (DWR) impregnation on the outer layer and a hydrophilic membrane underneath.
Any outdoor brand needs functional protective clothing.
When we created Eco-Shell, we didn't just want to make a durable, wind and rain resistant material; we wanted to do it all without harming the environment, so we chose a PFC-free impregnation.
PFC or perfluorocarbon chemical compounds are widely used in the outdoor industry because of their water-repellent properties, but unfortunately, they do not biodegrade and can persist in living organisms for several years, gradually moving up the food chain.
Eco-Shell Everyday is the strongest and most durable material in the Eco-Shell family. It is less breathable than other versions of Eco-Shell, but is the best for frequent use and daily protection from the weather.
Greenland
The Greenland family dates back to 1968, when the founder of Fjallraven created the Greenland jacket during a mountaineering expedition to Greenland. This jacket has become an iconic one. Designed as a jacket for mountaineers, Greenland has become a favorite of a whole generation of outdoor enthusiasts.
The Greenland is made of an extremely durable fabric, a blend of cotton and polyester, which was originally intended as a tent material. This is how the legendary G-1000 was born. The jacket was successfully tested during two weeks of hiking. The only remaining issue was waterproofness, which was solved by applying a mixture of beeswax and paraffin to the fabric. This is how the legendary Greenland wax was created.
The first Greenland jacket had two sturdy pockets on the chest. In half a century, only three changes have been made: side pockets were added, a winter version with fleece appeared, and in 2018, all Greenland production switched to G-1000 Eco made of recycled polyester.
