G-1000
G-1000 is Fjallraven's main material, created in 1968. Durable and strong, it consists of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. It is lightweight, ventilated, and protects against wind and UV radiation. And with Greenland Wax, it adapts to different climatic conditions.
Since its invention in 1968, we have developed five different versions of G-1000 - G-1000 Lite, G-1000 Air, G-1000 Air Stretch, G-1000 Silent, G-1000 Heavy-Duty - which have all the properties of the classic G-1000, but all have their own special advantages.
Greenland
The Greenland family dates back to 1968, when the founder of Fjallraven created the Greenland jacket during a mountaineering expedition to Greenland. This jacket has become an iconic one. Designed as a jacket for mountaineers, Greenland has become a favorite of a whole generation of outdoor enthusiasts.
The Greenland is made of an extremely durable fabric, a blend of cotton and polyester, which was originally intended as a tent material. This is how the legendary G-1000 was born. The jacket was successfully tested during two weeks of hiking. The only remaining issue was waterproofness, which was solved by applying a mixture of beeswax and paraffin to the fabric. This is how the legendary Greenland wax was created.
The first Greenland jacket had two sturdy pockets on the chest. In half a century, only three changes have been made: side pockets were added, a winter version with fleece appeared, and in 2018, all Greenland production switched to G-1000 Eco made of recycled polyester.
