Wool keeps you warm by trapping air between its fibers, even when wet, and it does not insulate heat, which helps you stay cool even in high, above-zero temperatures. Wool is a thermoregulator, so by wicking moisture away from your body, it also keeps you free of unpleasant odors.
Depending on the thickness of the fibers, wool fabric can vary greatly in thickness. It can be very thin and delicate, ideal for underwear - made of merino wool. Or it can be soft, like lamb's wool. Or thick and durable, like sheep's wool.
G-1000 Eco
G-1000 is Fjallraven's main material, created in 1968. Durable and strong, it consists of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. It is lightweight, ventilated, and protects against wind and UV radiation. And with Greenland Wax, it adapts to different climatic conditions.
Guided by our commitment to using as many recycled and sustainable materials as possible, we have created an eco-friendly version of the G-1000 Eco made from recycled polyester and organic cotton.
